Monday!

Good Morning! I hope your weekend was GREAT!
This week: P, p as in pig. Don't forget to practice all blends! pa, pe, pi, po, pu. Remember to practice sentences each weekend. I have written many notes on many papers for you. Some of the children are trying to "memorize" what the sentences say, so work with them on these. Try and scramble up the words on a separate sheet of paper and have them read them. We will begin our little reader books as soon as we finish the alphabet. (I was hoping to get in two letters a week, but so much has been going on each week, we haven't really gotten to do that.) The little reader books have short sentences. Most are reading our morning sentences the second I write them on the board. But some are not and some are not even trying. Please work with them at home. It helps more than you know! :)

Our unit this week is DR. SEUSS! Thanks for the books and movies you have sent! Please keep sending them!

Please send movie money tomorrow at the LATEST if you haven't sent it already. Please don't forget to send yours along with your child if you are going-which is most of you. And if you sent just your child's money and you are going, please send your money tomorrow too. Mrs. Dee wants to make one big check to CC5. Thanks!

This week: We are learning all about the letter Y, y! We are continuing to count to 100! Please continue to practice! Our unit is all about dental health! Ask your child what he/she learned each day! :) Thanks to Karri Booth for getting us goodies for the week! Also, thanks to Charles Henderson Child Health Care Center!

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday, READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY, on March 2nd. We will be going to the movies to see “The Lorax” in 3D! We will be attending a semi private showing at 10 am. The cost, which includes a kiddie tray (popcorn, candy, drink,) is 13.50. Please have this in by February 28th. If you write a check, make it out to PLA and if you send cash, please send correct change. Please do not combine this money with any other money. All parents are invited to attend, and I NEED drivers! :) The cost is the same to you. $13.50.

Our unit for that week (Feb. 27-March 2) will also be all about Dr. Seuss! Please send any books and movies you have! This is usually a really fun week for us! I will let you know of any other plans we have for this week ASAP!

This week: letters J, j and K, k! Yes, 2 letters! We will try and get 2 letters a week in from now until we finish the alphabet! PLEASE practice at home, especially if your child is struggling with something. Don't forget the blends! We are doing morning sentences each and every morning. They should be able to read these sentences to you each Friday. Please don't let them try and "remember" what the sentence said. If you have to, re-write the words on a separate piece of paper and scramble them up. Have them sound out the ones they need to. For the short sight words, they should be able to recognize those easily. (the color words also.) a, the, is, I, and

Our unit this week is all about BEARS!! Please send any books or movies you have! Please check your child's bag for a letter about some other fun activities we are doing this week!
